3rd International Workshop on Technologies for Low-Carbon & Lean Construction (TLC2)

The TLC2 workshop is an event in the annual TLC2 week, a premium forum for researchers working in the construction materials and management sector, especially related to Technologies for Low-Carbon Lean Construction (TLC2) for showcasing the research work. It also focuses on developing and implementing technologies: (1) to utilize waste materials from construction, demolition, power, steel, and agricultural industries and thereby enhance the durability and sustainability of concrete structures, (2) to minimize waste of materials, money, and time during the construction processes using lean principles and digital/robotic/3D printing tools, and (3) to develop policies to enable the BEST and NEXT practices in the Indian construction industry.  These research initiatives are geared towards the eventual goal of minimizing the concrete construction industry's carbon footprint and enhancing the construction sector's circular economy.

The TLC2 workshop will feature talks on themes related to advances in Low-Carbon & Lean Construction Technologies by national and international experts and researchers. Participants will get an opportunity to (i) connect and interact with peers and experts working in the same domain, (ii) showcase their research and get exposed to the state of the art on different aspects of construction materials and management, both theoretical and applied, and (iii) get guidance from the renowned experts working on low carbon lean construction technologies.

THEMES (the following and any other topic associated with construction materials and management):

  • Sustainability and carbon footprint (Cement production, Suitability of various wastes, LCA, etc.)
  • Supplementary cementitious materials (carbonation, chloride ingress, corrosion, dimensional stability, etc.)
  • Cement chemistry (Special cements, hydration, and fresh properties of cement/concrete)
  • Recycling & processing of waste for concrete (fine and coarse aggregates, fibres, etc.)
  • Supplementary cementitious materials (carbonation, chloride ingress, corrosion, dimensional stability, etc.)
  • Construction automation (BIM; Lean, accelerated/automated construction; precast concrete, 3D-printing, etc.)
