RILEM Webinar: Shrinkage Reducing Admixtures - Their Science and Role in Education

The second ROC&TOK webinar will take place on Thursday, December 3rd at 2 pm UTC time (GMT+0) and will be one hour long (30-minute presentation + 30-minute interaction).

Hosted by Professor Jason Weiss, Edwards Distinguished Chair of Engineering, Oregon State University, the webinar will address the following subject: Shrinkage Reducing Admixtures – Their Science and Role in Education.

Shrinkage-reducing admixtures (SRAs) emerged on the scene in the 1980’s. While these materials have been introduced to reduce the risk of restrained shrinkage cracking in concrete; they have several additional benefits. This presentation will review properties of shrinkage reducing admixtures in an effort to describe how they reduce shrinkage. Discussions will include surface tension, viscosity and contact angle. The presentation will highlight their influence on shrinkage, shrinkage cracking, moisture diffusion, plastic shrinkage, and transport properties.

You can register as attendee or you can apply to become a panelist of a webinar by sending a short statement that supports your panelist application to assistant[@]rilem.org. A panelist will have the chance to pose questions directly and participate in the discussion rather than just through the Q&A.
