RILEM President in 2021!
 
Last Thursday, Dr. Nicolas Roussel, RILEM Vice-President, was elected President-Elect by the RILEM General Council "in" Sheffield. At the end of the mandate of Prof. Ravindra Gettu, current RILEM president, Dr Roussel shall be elected President by the General Council scheduled "in" Merida, Mexico, in Sept 2021. More details about this procedure can be found in the RILEM Statutes.

Bad news for asphalt lovers
 
It seems that carbon-based chemicals are released into the atmosphere in hot summer days making roads and roofs a major source of air pollution. Asphalt researchers will have to put more effort into “cool pavement coatings” which are considered a better option to reduce the excess heat in built-up areas and emissions. More info here!
