Abstract:
To determine the degree of pavement resistance to reflective cracking, the tensile strength of asphalt concrete depending on the temperature and time conditions of the base slab deformations has been investigated. The level of the tensile stresses in the pavement above the base joints or cracks depends on the rheological properties of the organic binder interlayer (primer) used.
The requirements for the rheological properties of the interlayer materials have been established. These requirements are aimed at increasing the interlayer compliance to shear due to the prolonged action of temperature deformations of base slabs and at decreasing its compliance to shear as a result of the short-term action of a unit vehicle load.
