Abstract: Finnish Association of Civil Engineers has started a work to produce instructions of integrated life cycle design of building structures. Titles of those methods are: Multiple requirements decision making, life cycle monetary economy and economy of the nature (=ecology), systematics of functional and technical specifications, design of energy efficient buildings and their structures, service life planning, user's guide for operation and maintenance, design for flexibility in changes of use, design of structures for reuse and recycling, hygro-thermal design of structures, environmental life cycle analysis, detailed static, dynamic, physical acoustic and service life design and health aspects in design. The work has been started in 1999, and will be comleted in 2000. The practical implementation will be started end of 1999 with test designs, and continued in a larger scale after finishing
and publication of the instructions.
