Abstract: Today, in Turkey, traditional wooden windows are still in use, and especially the families in the middle income groups prefer if. About 80% of existing residential buildings have such windows. Although these windows, usually made in small workshops, do not have enough performance against air and water leakage, ineffective measures are taken connected with leakage problems occurring in the joints between surrounding wall and frame, between frame and sash, and between sash and glass. Thus, these windows usually fail to perform effectively. In this paper, the wooden windows made by using the traditional methods and installed within openings were examined and evaluated.
