Abstract: The paper deals with exergy analysis of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of building materials.
The authors extend the application of exergy analysis to LCA and propose an exergetic index in the framework of an analytical approach called "Multicriteria Decision Making': A Life Cycle lnventory (LCI) for a building plaster product is derived. The study performed ranks the environmental burdens due to the production of the specified material and makes an exergy analysis of some stages during the process. Plaster building material comes out in three stages: extraction of resources, processing of materials and product manufacturing. The LCI has been derived using the matrix method. The authors deem that the loss of exergy during the whole process is a relevant index looking at the technology improvement of a process,
then it will represents a suitable criterion for assessing the trade-off of alternative material.
