Abstract: This paper presents degradation attack mechanisms and the development of models for making quantified predictions for the durability of timber construction. Progress to date indicates that for the case of attack by decay we can develop models based on principles of physics and biology.
However, for the case of attack by termites it is necessary to use models calibrated to expert.
