Abstract: The use of stainless steel (SS) reinforcement in special structures is a recent fact, therefore long-term field experience is not available. In some cases study have used the Life Cycle Cost analysis as a criteria for selecting reinforcing variant. This paper presents a methodology for determination and comparison of service-life of concrete structures reinforced with SS and carbon steel (CS) bars. It was used the experimental results of previous investigation, in which was characterized the electrochemical and physic-mechanical manifestations of corrosion of ASTM 316L SS bars and compared with CA50 CS bars.
