Abstract: A background on the development of epoxy-coated reinforcing steel (ECR) in the United States is presented. Current status of the use of ECR is discussed along with a proposed failure mode and the senlice life modeling method. Recent investigations validated the proposed failure mode and life-cycle cost analyses demonstrate that if is very dificult to justify the continued use of ECR in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
