Abstract: This paper outlines an experimental and numerical study on the effect of water-binder ratio, w/b, silica fume and age on shrinkage of High Performance Concrete (HPC). Eight types of HPC were studied. Carbonation, internal relative humidity (RH) and strength were studied on cubes from the same batch of HPC that was used in the studies of shrinkage. The results indicate well correlated relationships between shrinkage, w/b and RH. The type and amount of silica fume affected shrinkage. The study was done at Lund Institute of Technology, Division of Building Materials, Lund, Sweden, in 1992-2000.
