Abstract: One high strength and one super high strength concrete, based on the same constituent materials, have been tested with respect to early autogenous deformation, thermal dilation coefficient and stress build-up under full restraint during isothermal and realistic temperature developments. The results show very different early behavior, implying a need for very different precautions to control the early crack sensitivity in practical applications of the two concretes.
