Abstract: Due to the growing application of High-performance concrete (HPC) for constructions, life-time prediction becomes more and more important. In the past HPC has been applied predominantly from the strength point of view. Due to the extreme dense structure of concrete under a w/c ratio of 0.4, a good frost resistance has been supposed from the outset. Damages on HPC structures, observed in the past, refute this statement. The great range of different design concepts, varied by the addition of additives and admixtures, leads moreover to unpredictable material behaviour. In this paper the analysis of the internal damage as well as the water uptake behaviour of some HPC series will be pre¬sented by using the CIF-test.
