Abstract: This paper presents laboratory investigations realized on asphalt pavements' samples, cored on a swiss highway, and their behavior at cold temperatures through a thermal stress restrained test. This laboratory analysis was undertaken on samples cored in the lane called "normal lane" and, on the other hand, on the materials taken from the emer-gency lane of an 8 years old highway. In this way, the bituminous mixes submitted to 8 years of traffic loads have been compared to the emergency lane mixes having only been submitted to 8 years of environmental actions supposed to be without any traffic. Bitu-minous mix samples were made with pure bitumen and polymer modified bitumen, which represent 16 different products.
