Abstract: Numerical simulation of time-dependent performance degradation of concrete structures should be one of the key technologies for the future development of rational durability design and maintenance of concrete structures. The essential effort here is not only to develop a framework for numerical analysis but also to enhance individual models used in the system. This paper focuses on the latter problem: material models for deteriorated concrete structures. In particular, mechanical properties of reinforced concrete member with corroded reinforcing steel bar are discussed. The quantitative relationship among level of corrosion of reinforcing steel bars, corrosion cracks in concrete cover and tensile properties of the member are investigated based on laboratory tests. Based on the test results, constitutive models, which can be used for the computation of mechanical behaviours of deteriorated reinforced concrete structures, are discussed.
