Abstract: Computer simulation is an effective means for promoting the development and application of fiber reinforced cement composites (FRCC), especially when such simulation is closely integrated with modern experimental and sensing techniques. This paper first reviews the various approaches for computer modeling of FRCC. Thereafter, a novel micromechanical approach to modeling FRCC is presented, where fibers exist as discrete entities within a random lattice representation of the material matrix. Using this simulation framework, models are proposed for analyzing hybrid fiber composites and fiber composites subjected to drying environments.
