Abstract: Concrete structures are subjected to cyclic loading throughout their service life.
This article examines the changes taking place in the mechanical properties of concrete specimens under a limited number of compressive loading cycles involving high loads.
Furthermore the variations in specimen temperature occurring during load application (1 hour,at 1 Hz frequency)were measured and analysed.
The results obtained show that cyclic loading makes it possible to increase failure strength and,at the same time, causes an increase in material brittleness.
Furthermore,it has been demonstrated that there is a correlation between the decrease in temperature and the increase in strength brought about by cyclic loading.
