Abstract:
This paper provides an overview of the recent research in concrete cracking and durability. The subjects include (a) concrete cracking and permeability, (b) concrete shrinkage and early age cracking, and (c) concrete cracking and corrosion of reinforcement. The research results indicate that cracks generated by service and environmental loads should be considered simultaneously in concrete structural and material design as well as in service-life prediction.
