Abstract:
The pore structure of concrete depends on cement type, curing procedure and mix proportions. It has a significant influence on the compressive strength, chloride penetration, carbonation speed and shrinkage properties of the structure. Furthermore, the structure of the surface and internal layers will differ because of early-age drying. The purpose of this study is to investigate the variation in pore structure with depth due to curing conditions, water/cement ratio and cement types. Also, a drying experiment is conducted to investigate the influence of drying after water curing. It is shown that the pore size distribution was homogeneous regardless of depth from the concrete surface when a specimen was cured water and sealed condition. But when it was cured air condition, the pore size distribution showed it was inhomogeneous with depth from surface.
