Abstract:
The deterioration of concrete structures is a major problem in many countries throughout the world. The deterioration of concrete or reinforced concrete usually involves movement of aggressive gases and/or liquids from the surrounding environment into the concrete through the near surface concrete, followed by physical and/or chemical actions in its internal structure. Therefore, the properties of near-surface concrete were of great importance to the durability of RC structures. In this paper, a range of test methods for determining the permeability and transport properties of near-surface concrete are critically reviewed and compared. Finally, the effects of the test environment on the measurement of concrete properties were discussed.
