Abstract:
In order to inspect the mechanical performance and assess the actual bearing capacity of the whole bridge structure, static loading test is a very important mean and usually adopted. By supervising the displacement of some key points under testing loads, we can know the abnormal deformation in time. Flexible bridges such as suspension bridges and cable bridges always have a large span , they will generate large deformation under working loads. In this paper, the deformation due to some load conditions are measured and they are compared with theoretical solution by nonlinear finite element method. The results can not only let us know the mechanical property of the existing bridges structure, but also provide a basis for safe usage and maintenance of the bridge.
