Abstract:
Carbon fiber reinforced cement (CFRC) is an intrinsically smart material, which possess the capability of monitoring its own reversible strain and damage through the correspondingly reversible changing of its electrical resistance under compressive stress. Due to their character of low cost, good compatibility with concrete, high durability and sensibility, the sensors that made by CFRC have become one kinds of important hopeful sensors for long service health monitoring of concrete structures. In this paper, the dispose style of electrode and the electrical resistance testing method of CFRC were studied. The mixing technology and carbon fiber surface treatment method, which can boost carbon fiber dispersion and improve the property of CFRC, were researched. The results show that embedded and four-probe is more suitable for CFRC sensor, the mixing technology of mixing water and carbon fiber and then add cement or mixing cement and carbon and then add water is apt to get high performance CFRC, and eroding carbon fiber with boiling NaClO solution can increase the acid functional group and decrease contact angle between fiber and water and thereby improve the property of interface between fiber and cement.
