Abstract: 
The authors have tested 16 Specimens strengthened by bonded steel plates in compression zone. Several Results are put forward. Buckling of bonded steel plates in compression zone can be observed when failure of the specimens occurred. The failure model of strengthened beams in compression zone is quite different from that in tension zone thoroughly. The failure mechanism of the strengthened beams is discussed. Buckling of steel plates must be considered for bearing capacity of the beams strengthened by bonded steel plates in compression zone. The Results are helpful for revising the strengthening code of concrete structure.
