Abstract: 
In Civil Engineering several feasibility studies have been carried out to explore the pos-sibilities for the use of (very)high strength concrete. Two possible applications are in-vestigated. These applications are a concrete sheet pile and a lifting concrete floodgate. In the sheet pile only steel fibres and prestressing strands are used. External prestressing is used in the floodgate. Despite the high cost of the concrete mixes economical solu-tions for these cases have been found.
