Abstract:
It is a hard technical problem all over the world to control cracks in mass concrete. Proved and practical theories are lacking in the engineering practice. In addition, the existing code and regulations are not sufficient to solve all the problems in the design and construction work, which consequently causes the emergence of cracks in the concrete and seriously affects the security and the durability as well. The mass concrete used in a certain SHIPLOCK engineering project is made by mixing composite. Portland cement(CPC) with low hydration heat. Based on this engineering characteristic and by means of scientific arrangement of measuring points on the spot, it is possible to moniton the change in concrete temperature so as to control the temperature grads between the inside and outside of the concrete. By way of the spot measuring and the finite element analysis, the change in temperature as well as the rules of stress development during the process of the hydration of mass concrete has been researched. Furthermore, the technology of controlling the crack caused by the temperature stress of the mass concrete is presented in the paper.
