Abstract:
The interaction between the fibre and the concrete matrix sharply affects the structural response of steel fibre reinforced concrete. In order to improve this interaction, many ef-forts have been devoted to the optimisation of the fibre geometry (shape and aspect ra-tio). However, the fibre-matrix interaction also depends on the interface properties that are strongly related to the concrete matrix.
In this work, the fiber-to-concrete interface has been studied for a selection of cement-based binders by means of pull-out tests on straight steel fibres. Results evidence that the bonding of the fibre is significantly affected by the properties of the cementitious sys-tem.
