Abstract:
With the further study and application of high strength concrete (HSC), it is an irresistible trend to employ HSC to the bridges. The advantage of continuous beams has been acknowledged on the bridge. With the development of prestress, the technology of external prestress has shown good prospects, so the combination of the three technologies can ensure excellent economic and social benefits. The significance of the dissertation lies in the comprehensive study and analysis of the continuous beam structure with the three aspects: HSC, external prestress and continuous beams. By taking into account practical use of continuous beams, the model beams are designed as non-uniform section. Two types of concrete are adopted: the combination of HSC and steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete (FRHSC), and HSC only. Three PPR (1.00, 0.91, and 0.79) are chosen. Static destructive tests on the two-span T-section beams have been carried out. The behavior features of the beams have been concluded. Based on the static test of 4 model beams, more analyses are also done for the models with different PPR and every PPR with two types of concrete, which provides theoretical basis for the further analysis of the behavior of externally prestressed continuous beam.
It is significant for the serviceability and endurance that the concrete get high strength and the structure have feasible styles. With more application and research on the HSC, it will inevitably be used in the bridge. In the bridge structure, all researcher of all the country has accepted the advantages of continuous beam. With the development of the external prestress, it gets more life force. It would get more benefit for economy and society if external prestress and HSC were used associatively.[1][2]
In this paper, the behaviors of external prestress and high strength continuous beams have been researched and analyzed. The tests on the continuous beams were construed with two types concretes (HSC and FRHSC) and three partial-prestress-ratios (PPR=1.00, 0.91, 0.79). Static destructive tests on the two-span T-section beams have been carried out. The behavior features of the beams have been concluded. Considering the continuous beams in the practice are no same section, the beams in the test are not the same section too. The two spans are all 2.9m. The height of same section part is 300mm. From near middle point of span to the middle support, the height changes from 300mm to 450mm.
