Abstract: In this paper, a new rheological equation is presented to simulate thixotropic behavior of cement paste. This new equation is based on the previous work done by Hattori and Izumi [1,2]. More precisely, the coagulation state of the cement paste is assumed to play the dominating role in generating thixotropic behavior. The new approach consists (among others) of introducing memory into the corresponding shear viscosity equation (i.e. into the apparent viscosity). Two types of memories are used. One is the memory of recent coagulation rate and the other is of recent shear rate. A fading memory type is used in both cases. The validation of the overall analysis presented here, consists of reproducing the measured torque by numerical means. The torque is measured by the ConTec Viscometer 4 [3]. The numerical simulated torque is calculated by the software Viscometric-ViscoPlastic-Flow [4], where the new rheological equation is applied [4].
