Abstract: The demands on a concrete for civil engineering applications includes both the behaviour for fresh concrete as well as the knowledge of effects related to the maturity growth for the hardening stage. This combines several disciplines, like rheology, production techniques, material properties and structural design. The first part of the project, looking at a lot of fresh concrete properties in view of stability in consistency and air content, has been finished. The main result is that the type of admixture plays a dominant role as well as the maximum aggregate size. Based on results from the first part of the project three concrete mixes have been chosen to be investigated concerning the hardening stage. The first question to study in the second part of the project is if SCC concretes are more sensitive to early thermal cracking than traditional concretes, and the second question is if parameters dominating the fresh behaviour also are influencing the properties for the hardening concrete. Some preliminary results exist, but the main questions have so far no answers as the tests are on-going.
