Abstract: In this study, the steel-fiber is applied to improve the toughness, abrasion resistance and impact strength of concrete due to its brittle character. The densified mixture design algorithm (DMDA) is used to proportion steel-fiber reinforced SCC and relative property is studied. Two different w/cm as 0.25,0.29 and 0.32; three different percentages of steel-fiber by volume as 0.0%, 0.5% and 1.0%; and two different aspect ratio (L/D) of 100 and 60 are selected for the study the effects on concrete property. The result shows with the densified particle packing methodology and with proper amount of pozzolanic material concrete can flow as honey with lower tangled problem of the fibers. Such kind of SCC has already been successfully applied on the packets for low radiation waste disposal and traffic road of public bus in Taipei city. Now it is continuously developed for the road deck panel. The specific project of the concrete-traffic road of public bus in Taipei city has proved with its high flexural strength, high abrasion resistance and high impact strength for over four years. Because the evidence shows the concrete has been loaded by millions of public buses for driving without fracture, abrasion and shrinkage crack. In consequence, the steel-fiber reacts with pozzolanic material, and the steel-fiber reinforced SCC will produce a crack sealing effect in the prototype test and will be put in real application for construction requirement and specification.
