Abstract: Self-compacting concrete (SCC) can contribute to the improvement of the quality of tunnel shells which can be filled from one side only at critical locations. To investigate the suitability of SCC for underground constructions under realistic conditions a test gallery shall be built made of SCC. In addition to concrete technological investigations, the applicability, the requirements of construction management, and the actual placing quality of the concrete are mainly investigated - above all on the rock side and at critical locations of the structure (joint tapes, narrow reinforcement, slender components). A plastic sealing will be installed to investigate the imperviousness of the structure in dependence on a defined pressure gradient. In addition to the use of non-destructive test methods, test specimens (concrete, sealing) are taken (destructively) for laboratory tests during a demolition process.
