Abstract: Effects of the new type of MgO-CaO composite expansive agent (MC) on the permeability and durability of concrete were investigated. Experimental results showed that, the incorporation of MC at a dosage of 8% of cementitious materials could decrease the chloride permeability and carbonation depth of concrete, compared to that without MC. The hydration degree of fly ash could be promoted due to CaO component of MC. It was also found that the addition of MC optimized pore structure of harden cement paste(HCP), and hydration product of MgO component didn’t enrich in paste–aggregate interface, moreover, MC could also decrease the orientation of CH crystals of interface.
