Abstract: In this paper, the land in China is divided into different parts according to the degree of external environments’ effects on the structures. Firstly, the normal inside conditions of structures or components are suggested. Secondly, the limit state and the target reliability index under carbonation are determined, the carbonation depth prediction model in this zonation is proposed, and a probabilistic method is applied for the prediction of durable life of concrete structures. Taking the results of predicted service life as dominant indication, the boundary lines of delineation are determined. Finally, the environmental zonation under atmospheric condition in china is established according to the effects of environments on the durability of concrete structures. Procedures for the durability design for structures under ordinary atmosphere carbonation conditions using the zonation method proposed in this paper is described as well.
