Abstract: In this paper, the functional properties of textile reinforced concrete modified with titanium dioxide are described. By the use of nanoparticles made of titanium dioxide (TiO2), new fields of application and additional functionalities as e. g. self-cleaning and pollutant decomposition are opened up. Textile reinforced concrete components can be manufactured with very small thicknesses because the concrete cover for corrosion protection of the reinforcement can be minimised. If the components are manufactured with the laminating technique, then it is also possible to add titanium dioxide only to the outermost layer (about 3 mm). In this case, the extra costs incurred by the addition of TiO2 are very low.
