Abstract: This paper presents the preliminary results of an experimental investigation on the thermomechanical behaviour of continuous sisal fiber reinforced cement based composites. The developed composites and their matrices were previously fired at temperatures ranging from 70 to 250 oC and then tested under bending loads. The results were compared to those obtained under lab controlled conditions and analysed in terms of first and post crack strengths and ductility. A thermal analysis through thermal gravimetry was performed in the fibers that were extracted from the matrix after being submitted to the different firing conditions. Finally, the matrix pore system was investigated by mercury intrusion porosimetry and the composites and fiber’s microstructure was observed using a scanning electron microscope.
