Abstract: DEF is a very important problem of concrete technology, not completely solved [1-3] yet. One of methods of elimination of concrete expansion and cracking due to DEF is the addition of natural and artificial pozzolanic materials, chiefly fly ash and slag [4-6]. The addition of limestone was also examined [7]. However, its influence is much less known. Our experiments were focused on the examination of the influence of addition of very pure limestone on the expansion of the mortars. For comparison also low lime fly ash was used. In the experiments Portland cement was used which presented DEF with considerable expansion of water cured mortars after heat treatment. This paper presents the results of these experiments.
