Abstract: The experimental behavior of continuous sisal fiber reinforced cement based composites
subjected to quasi static and dynamic tension loads was studied. Crack spacing was measured
using a high resolution image capturing procedure coupled with image analysis and correlated
with the applied strain. High strain rates were achieved by using a high rate servo-hydraulic
testing machine. The effect of strain rate was investigated by comparing static and dynamic
tensile tests which were performed at rates ranging from 5.5x10-6s-1 to 24.6s-1, respectively.
