Abstract: Ultrasonic techniques that were developed for quality control and void detection in cementitious materials have recently been shown to have possible benefits for analyzing the setting and hardening of cement systems. This work investigates the use of a novel impact-echo approach to combine both methods (ultrasonics and impact echo) in the analysis of the setting and hardening of such materials with a modified impact-echo system. The paper deals with the basics of the measuring methods and presents preliminary results.
