Abstract:
Cement-based materials such as mortar and concrete are very often subject of study for a PhD or MSc-thesis. Durability aspects of materials and structures are mostly just part of the study, but sometimes the complete thesis if focussing on durability. Several of these theses are summarized in this part of the Annotated Bibliography. Usually a thesis is not that easy accessible, however with internet most publications can be assessed through the website of the university. The good thing about theses is that they contain much more detailed information about the subject compared with journal or conference publications. The topics that are addressed are very wide but all related to combined actions. Three studies are dealing with freeze-thaw actions in combination with sustained loading and then especially applied for FRP strengthened concrete. Freeze-thaw and transport is studied in one thesis. Cumulative damage in concrete and its influence on life cycle performance modelling is discussed in another thesis. Shrinkage and corrosion of rebars is one topic that is addressed. A numerical study on durability aspects under chemo-mechanical loading is presented. A master thesis on the effect of cracking on chloride diffusion in concrete is the last contribution.
