Abstract: Despite the dynamic and extensive research on High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cement Composites (HPFRCC) over the last two decades, the industrial uptake of these materials still faces hurdles derived from the singularities of their design and processing. This paper presents a comprehensive approach to develop a HPFRCC material using locally available materials for large scale production. A preliminary inventory and characterization of raw materials and by-products enabled the identification of synergies and interactions. Likewise, rheometric analyses were carried out to assess the compatibility of different admixtures with the reactive powders. A HPFRCC material exhibiting moderate compressive strength and pseudo strain hardening behavior, both in flexion and tension, was developed. The material consistently exhibited ultimate strain capacity over 3% and multiple micro cracking. Subsequently, a step-by-step upscaling process was implemented to assess the viability of large scale production of the HPFRCC. The material was successfully processed using common in field mixing equipment as well as plant mixer and concrete trucks for larger batches. Further validation was undertaken by designing and building a singular urban park furniture solution.
