Abstract: This study investigated the deformation performance of a reinforced concrete (RC) bridge pier using a combination of high-strength reinforcement (SD390, SD490) and high-performance material (PVA fibers). The results of cyclic loading tests on the modeled specimen, damage form, bearing capacity and deformation performance showed no great difference between the specimen using high-strength reinforcement and the specimen arranged by the commonly used reinforcement (SD345). It is possible to make a RC bridge pier with high bearing capacity (20% increase from the normal specimen) and deformation performance (same deformation capacity 140 mm as the normal specimen) by using a combination of high-strength reinforcement and high-performance material.
