Abstract: Construction and demolition waste (C&DW) valorisation is one of the objectives of modern society, as attested to by the enactment of legislation that encourages and standardises the use of recycled aggregate. The lack of product uniformity is one of the primary obstacles to quality assurance and hence to the use of such aggregate. This issue is closely related to the technology deployed by construction and demolition waste management plants.
The present paper examines and analyses the technological level of Spanish C&DW treatment plants, identifying the areas in need of improvement to raise the quality of the end product and further its use in civil engineering and building construction.
