Abstract: This paper reports on the effect of the moisture kinetics of CDW recycled aggregate as a granular material and the pre-wetting condition on the mortar hydration. Mixtures were made with CDW aggregate as a natural sand replacement (CDW/NS), with 0%, 50% and 100% of replacement. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), capillary absorption tests were carried out during hydration period (at 1, 3, 7 and 28 days of age). The impedance test (EIS) realized during the hydration period shows that the saturation condition of the aggregate used for the mix affects the stage of hydration. The addition of CDW, especially in wet condition can influence on reduction of water capillary absorption.
