Abstract: The Ecological Reactive Powder Concrete (ECO-RPC) with a small size and a different volume fraction of steel fibres was prepared by the substitution of industrial waste powder with 50%~60% cement by weight and by replacing the ground fine quartz sand with natural fine aggregate. It was cured in the standard condition for 28d, 90d and 180d. The mechanical properties (strength, toughness, fracture energy and interfacial bond strength) of ECO-RPC were studied under static loads. In this paper, the high-speed impact compression behaviour of ECO-RPC was also investigated through the Hopkinson compression bar experiment under different strain rates.
The results showed that the static mechanical properties of ECO-RPC with the substitution of 25% ultra-fine slag, 25% ultra-fine fly ash and 10% silica fume was better than the others. And its compressive strength, flexural strength, and fracture energy were more than 200MPa, 60MPa and 30000J/m2 respectively. The results also showed that the ECO-RPC has an excellent strain rate stiffening effect under dynamic loads with high strain rates. This leads to a significant change of the fracture pattern.
The formation mechanism of ultra-high performance of ECO-RPC was analysed by considering both the microfibre reinforcement and the ECO-RPC matrix.
