Abstract: Current investigations show that the failure process of Textile Reinforced Concrete, which is observed at the macro level, cannot accurately be predicted based on the rather simple models known from ordinary steel reinforced concrete. This is primarily due to the inhomogeneous internal structure of the fiber strands (rovings). Non-uniform bond conditions in the longitudinal direction and within the cross-section lead to a different stressing of the filaments forming the roving. In this paper, two Finite Element models, one for the simulation of pullout tests of rovings, the other one for the simulation of tensile tests are presented. These models differ in the level of resolution. The more accurate model is used for the pullout test and is capable of reflecting the successive failure process of the roving. For the macro level response of TRC in a tensile test, a smeared model considering two groups of filaments is sufficient. The relation between the two models and the different conditions in the case of pullout and tensile tests are discussed.
