Abstract: In concrete micro-proportioning the particle size distribution (PSD) of the crushed aggregate fines is optimized. The effect on rheology of filler modified cement paste for vertical shaft impact (VSI) crushed and air classified sand fines (≤ 0.250 mm) from 10 very different Norwegian bedrocks has been investigated. One important finding of the rheology studies presented is that the total surface area of the crushed rock materials correlates to rheological properties of the filler modified cement paste. It is also showed that the mineralogy affects rheology mainly (only) in the finest particles (< approx. 20 microns). Finally we discuss how the micro-proportioning approach can be applied for all fines, and also for control of fresh concrete rheological properties in full-scale production of SCC.
