Abstract: Understanding of the shear behavior of cement paste is expected to help provide a scientific guide for concrete pumping. In this paper, Effect of mixture parameters such as water-binder ratio, superplasticizer dosage and silica fume on the shear behavior of cement paste was investigated. The results show that all the pastes without SP exhibited a shear-thinning behavior and decreasing the w/b could weaken the shear- thinning behavior. The shear-thickening behavior of pastes with the same water-binder ratio was prone to increase with the increasing SP dosage. However, for pastes with the same SP dosage, shear-thickening response increased with the increase of w/b. In addition, shear-thickening response was lowered and even eliminated with the increase of SF content.
