Abstract: Today in Japan, over 90% of the concrete lump from demolished structures is presently reused for subbase course material of roads, and the rest is discarded. In ten years the amount of the demolished concrete is estimated to be 3 to 5 times of the present amount. The reuse for subbase course will become difficult and recycling of concrete from structure to structure is necessary. This paper outlines technology developed to produce high quality recycled aggregate that has the same quality as crushed stone conforming to JIS A 5005 and gravel conforming to JASS 5. Properties of the concrete using the aggregate were shown to have the same quality with that made by natural aggregates such as gravel and crushed stone.
