Abstract: With a view to the development of eco-friendly photoacatalytic surfaces, this work examines TiO2-based materials, where the semiconducting oxide is doped by low amounts of metal ions. It is shown that transparent preparations of anatase titanium dioxide (Nanostructured TiO2), doped with elements chosen from groups I-IV, and the lanthanide series of the periodic table, when applied on the surface of cementitious or marble products, can preserve the original appearance of the surface, without altering the characteristics of the material.
