Abstract: Hydration reactions, strength gain and denser microstructure in cement matrix occur due to curing operation by providing proper moisture conditions inside the matrix the relative humidity within the capillaries does not drop below 80%. Conventionally, external curing is applied after mixing, placing and finishing. This paper discusses the use of a specially identified Self Curing Chemical Admixture (SCCA) so that ‘nocuring’ can still cause attainment of 28 day compressive and split tensile strengths almost equal to those of water cured specimens.
